We are thrilled to announce that Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs will officially be launched this weekend … a first for the North West of the England and another fantastic achievement for Fleetwood!
If you aren’t familiar with beach wheelchairs they've been designed to be light and manoeuvrable on sand and shingle, giving access to the coastline for individuals with limited mobility.
Between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September a small fleet of specially adapted chairs will be available to hire, free of charge, from Central Promenade, just along from Marine Hall. Please do pop down this weekend to say hello and find out more.
We’ll have volunteers out and about to tell you more and you can find our headquarters at the rear of the Central Prom café. Car-parking is available - turn onto Promenade Road off the Esplanade, opposite the Mount Hotel, postcode FY7 6QE.

We want as many people as possible to experience the chairs and the freedom they offer to enjoy the beach with their friends and family so initially sessions will be no more than 2 hours. As we expand our service and recruit more volunteers, we can offer longer times and pre-booking for dates well in advance.
Huge thanks to our many supporters including Fleetwood Rotary, Fleetwood Town Council, Wyre Council and Healthier Fleetwood, and to our band of volunteers.
Over the days and weeks ahead we’ll share a lot more news and information about the service, and it’s new to us too so your feedback is very important.
