Our service and how to book...

We have 10 chairs at present. Pictured below are the Debug (we have 2 of these), Sandcruisers (2), the smaller Sandpiper (2) plus the EZ Roller and Hippocampe (2) 'three wheelers' so we can offer a range to suit various ages and levels of mobility. All of the chairs have lap belts and can be fitted with chest harnesses if required.

Each of our beach wheelchairs has the capability of up to 17 stones (107kg).

We have a MoLift Mover 205 hoist that can transfer between chairs. You need to bring your sling (to fit a 4-point sling bar) and it's the individual's carer who must take responsibility for the transfer.

In all cases, the chair user must be accompanied as all the chairs require a second person.

We have quite a lot of other equipment such as Goto Firefly inserts, Splashy seats (which can be placed on the beach or in the water to allow children to play), cushions, pommel cushions, and a range of activities including cricket, rounders, and kubb.  There are binoculars and activity sheets available too... all free of charge

Firstly, you need to decide what date & time you are coming. We are blessed with a beach that is not completely covered by high tides except in bad storms so the tide does not affect activities on the beach.  Do keep an eye out for the incoming tide sneaking around behind you though, if you choose to go out onto the wet sand.  If you are hoping to "dip your toes" in the water it is best to check the tide times first.  The best times for this are between 1 hour before and 1 hour after high tide. Click here to see the tide times for Fleetwood for the next 7 days,

The more notice you can give us the better - it means we can reserve the chair that best suits your needs and ensure we have volunteers available to facilitate your booking.

We will need some details so we can check availability.

Same-day bookings are possible but you'll have to take a potluck on whether the chair you need is already booked & it might not be possible to arrange volunteers. We do accept 'drop-in' visits when we are open but again you'll have to take a potluck regarding what's available.

Chairs can be booked any day of the week between 10 am and 4 pm, subject to the last booking at 3 pm.

From November to February inclusive we will be open for advanced bookings only. For the rest of the year, we aim to be open every Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holiday. We will also open midweek during busy times. Booking in advance is still recommended to ensure you get the wheelchair you require.
